Chosen because the dots are unusual, because all
colors   are   good,   and   because   it  has   many
uses.  Certainly, it would make charming dresses
for the very little girl,  her older sister or mother.
21
Tri-color  combinations  continue  smart  for  au-
tumn, but they use blue as a predominating color.
Designs  similar  to the  ones  shown  above  will
make smart dresses for girls from four to twelve.
22
Here the confetti  dot motif on  broadcloth is so
used  that it can be  fashioned  into  sleeping pa-
jamas, shorts and bandeaux as well as in dresses
for children or morning wear for women.
23
Monotones are important when they are as amus-
ing  as  the  one  shown  above  in  this  luminous
shade  of  red.   Here  again  an  undertone  design
gives the effect of a solid background.
24
Satin  finished  cottons  in  foulard  patterns  are
classic.   In  small  patterns,  they  are  crisp  and
smart for both grown-ups or children. The above
example  is workable  and  clean  in design  and it
comes in excellent winter shades.
25
Notice  how black  is used  to give  distinction to
this conventional  print.  It will be  effective and
wearable in smocks or morning dresses. Handled
skillfully,   it  will  also  make  smart  dresses  for
children.
