s1899_7.gif Dress for girl from 8 to 10 years of age, 1899 Navy-blue serge is a good material in which to make this dress, though it may, of course, be made in any other. Our illustrations shows a box-pleat at each side the front, but the pattern can be made up just as well without them if liked. Fold the paper pattern over about 2 1/2 inches down the side where the box-pleat should come; this will take away the extra fulness; cut out with the pattern folded in this way. In diagrams Nos. 71 and 72 we show the way of placing pattern on the material for cutting out. Line the skirt with sateen, trim the outside with two rows of braid. The lining and material of the blouse are both cut to the same pattern, and are made up together. The right front is finished with a box-pleast made up over muslin to make it firm. Three buttonholes are worked in it to fasten to three buttons on the left front. The collar is cut in double material. It may be faced with another colour if preferred. In the diagram we have arranged for cutting it all from the serge. It is trimmed with two rows of braid, and should have an interlining of rather fine canvas or of muslin. The sleeves are a small bishop shape. the lining is cut ot the same shape. Gather them at the wrists and sew into bands which fasten with buttons and buttonholes. Gather the top and sew into the armhole, then bind the edges neatly over with a little piece of binding. The singlet is of white flannel. We give the pattern of it, but not the diagram. the centre of front must be put to a fold of flannel to cut without join. 1/2 yard will cut two singlets. Materials required for the dress: 3 yards material 48 inches wide, 3 1/2 yards sateen, 9 yards braid, and 1/2 yard flannel. ------ zur Verfügung gestellt von La Couturière Parisienne (webmistress @marquise.de) http://www.marquise.de von Valerie im Rahmen des Schnittaustauschs gespendet
